FIRE ALARM MAINTENANCE

Pyrotec can offer a full range of fire alarm inspection and maintenance services to match your requirements.

With no recognised qualification for fire alarm maintenance engineering being available in the UK at this time Pyrotec has developed a comprehensive induction and training programme that all our engineers have benefited from. All engineers receive extensive on-site training to the requirements of BS5839 and our own procedures and this is backed-up with BFPSA training courses to promote best practice. In addition to this our engineers receive manufacturer based training from our approved suppliers at regular intervals to keep their product knowledge up-to-date.

In our offices we have dedicated service administrators who work with the engineers to provide an effective maintenance service to all our customers. From completion of an installation or when we take over an existing system both sides of our maintenance team are committed to maintaining system and its records to the highest standards.

Maintenance services:

• Routine inspection – the regular testing and inspection of fire alarm systems to BS5839 Part 1 2002. Inspections are either quarterly or six-monthly depending on the type of system you have and the environment in which it is installed. Our engineers carry out all tests and inspections required to confirm the correct operation of the system. We also check for changes in the building use or structural changes that may affect the design or effectiveness of the alarm system.

• Modification work – extension and modification of existing systems to meet changing needs within a property. Improvement and updating of equipment to minimise unwanted and false alarms. All work is completed to our installation department procedures and system records are updated to suit.

• Emergency work – We offer true 24/7 emergency engineering services to all our service customers. Out of hours calls are received by a manned alarm receiving centre who take all the necessary details and then pass these on to our duty engineers. If for any reason the duty engineer is unavailable the call will be forwarded to a reserve engineer, supervisor or manager in order to ensure that you receive attention as soon as possible. Where possible minor problems will be resolved by phone free-of-charge. Where an unscheduled visit is required our engineers will attend in a time scale agreed with you – immediately if required!

• Verification – where confirmation of a systems integrity or suitability for purpose is required we can carry out complete verification inspections to BS5839 Part 1 2002 and BAFE SP203. This process assesses the design, installation and maintenance or a system and will identify any shortfall in the system integrity or provide full certification of the system where all aspects are satisfactory. This service is generally used to upgrade systems for BAFE SP203 maintenance schemes or to assess systems for change of building use.

• BAFE maintenance – For new and verified systems we can offer BAFE SP203 fire alarm maintenance. This provides ongoing product certification for your system and provides full compliance with the Regulatory Reform Order (Fire Safety) by demonstrating competence through using third party accredited contractors.
