Pyrotec "Greens up it's act"

Pyrotec are pleased to confirm that new arrangements are now in place for improved recycling of waste within 2 important aspects of the Company.

Scrap extinguishers and fire alarms

Stores Manager, Paul Harris stated that our new arrangement with our approved waste partner “Fire Protection Recycling” had made an enormous improvement to the way we dispose of our waste extinguishers. In previous years land fill was the only real option but now, we simply place the empty or full extinguishers within Fire Protection Recycling approved skip for them to collect and return to their factory. FPR then decant the contents; separate the various metals and plastics for recycling. Not only do they take the old fire extinguishers, they also provide recycling for the fire alarm detectors, batteries, plastics and metals generated by our business too. To finalise the process a waste transfer certificate is issued to confirm the contents and correct course of action has been taken.

Reducing our office paper and recycling

Fire Alarm Office Manager, Bryan Wells stated that with the introduction of the PDA’s (hand held electronic screen) for  paperless work and job sheet and, Pyrotec document management system (scanning documents to avoid printing on paper) the amount of paper we produce and use has been drastically reduced. However we cannot be totally paperless so for the paper we do receive or use we’ve set up an agreement with local company “Trust Marley paper recycling and shredding” which has allowed us to separate and segregate our paper, magazines, brochures and confidential waste. These are then collected by Trust Marley for recycling and to be re-used in a variety of ways such as to make newspaper, writing paper and even toilet rolls.

Good news for the environment, the company and of course its customers.
